A HANDY POLISH PHRASEBOOK
Polish might sound scary and unpronounceable but no worries - few vodka shots and we're all fluent!
Those beautiful sounds SZ, CZ, RZ, Ż, Ź, Ć, Ś, DŹ and so on… Some say our words have to many consonants (do Poles even use any vowels?😜)
Just take a look at this image - surely it's easier than English!

Besides that say “Hej” (hey) instead of “Cześć” (don’t lie to yourself that you will ever pronounce that right), say “Na zdrowie!“, “Sto lat!” and “Gorzko, gorzko!” when you drink and don’t forget to say “Pa, pa!” (bye, bye) as you go!
All sounds quite easy ;)
Here are few other phrases that you might find handy during the wedding!
Let's with something simple:
yes - tak (as in tick-'tack')
no - nie (as in 'nyeh'- nyeh-na-na-na)
ok - dobrze ('dough' plus a 'b' then 'she')
please, pardon (etc from the image above;) - proszę (pro-shell though do not prounance "l")
excuse me - przepraszam (difficult to pronounce because it includes that oh-so-not-English combo - 'p' merges into 'shey' followed by 'pra' and 'shem')
thank you - dziekuje (jenk-ou-yeah)
cheers - na zdrowie (naz droh - vier)
good bye - dowidzenia (doh- veed-senya)
good evening - dobry wieczór (doh-breh vye-choor)
good night - dobranoc (doh-bra notz)
Hi - cześć (cheshch)
Bye - cześć (cheshch)
what - co (often used like an English 'what??' and pronounced 'tso')
where - gdzie ('guh' and 'jay')
when - kiedy ('key yeh dey')
who - kto ( 'k' and 'toe')
why - dlaczego ('dlah' and 'che' and 'go')
how - jak ('yak'')
And now some alcohols:
beer - piwo (pee - vo)
A beer please - Piwo proszę (pee-vo pro-sheh)
wine - wino (vee-noh - Polish "w" is pronounced as "v")
white wine - białe wino (bee-ah-weh vee-noh)
red wine - czerwone wino (cherr-voh-neh vee-noh)
